prayers and thoughts, please.

Recently (like a few days ago) my dad was diagnosed with sleep apnea. So bad he'd stop breathing like... once a minute and it kept waking him up frequently throughout the night.

Apparently it was resolved, though, by giving him a breathing machine. But, well... that's not all he has.

I don't know if I ever bothered to mention it but my dad's been having chest pains recently. When they checked him out with the routine heart stuff nothing seemed out of order, but he got some further testing done... a week ago or two. But, for some reason they hadn't gotten back to him with the results still, since it went to his physician instead of him directly. So today he decides to drop by the clinic and see if he could find out if anything was wrong.

When he got to the clinic and they looked up the results, they told him he couldn't leave, and called an ambulance to take him to St. Joseph's Hospital a few blocks away. One of his arteries is clogged up and needs to have a balloon pushed into it to clear it open. Quick internet search reveals this is probably it. If that doesn't work he'll have to get surgery.

I think he turns 55 next month.

I'm feeling pretty fucked up right now so some kind words would be appreciated.

Oh boy...If it's that bad, it's good that they caught it in time. I hope he's going to be all right.
What amazes and infuriates me is that the doctor didn't check and let my dad know about it right away. What if he HADN'T gone to the clinic for a check-up?

I'm very sorry to hear that you father has to go through this. My prayers are with you and your family. It's never easy to have to go through things like this.

That's true. :( It's unbelievable that a doctor wouldn't relay such important information. We're supposed to be able to trust them.
My mom had to have open heart surgery some years ago. If it does escalate to surgery, keep in mind that their techniques these days are near flawless.

Look at it this way, they've caught the arterial blockage and they will be able to do something about it.

Medicine has come a long way and I will keep you and your family in my thoughts, especially your father.

I'd be a bit upset though that no one contacted him with the results but that's just me. I worked with physicians so I know how long stuff takes to get back from the labs, etc.

Keep strong and keep your father in good spirits, a positive outlook goes a long way towards healing a patient's physical form.

Apparently it's not the doctor's fault, but the clinic. Along with the tests and
